Abstract

2220. Hobson, O. J. Jan. 27. Stretched bands; adjustments applicable generally for tensile and compressive springs. - Relates to elastic wheel tyres of the kind in which h concentric stretched inelastic bands are supported by alternating supports, and consists in bedding each support upon a spring metal plate. Preferably adjustable supports are used, consisting of two members 2, 3, Figs. 1, 4, and 5, riveted to adjacent bands through the spring plates 16 and connected by bolts 6 passing through slots 8. Rotatably mounted on the bolts are blocks 10 with surfaces a, b, &c. at varying distances from the bolt. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the tread band is directly supported by rocking members 14. Fig. 3 shows a form of support in which the spring plates carry members 21, 22 with concave seatings embracing a cylindrical member 24.
