2085. Bellare, A. Jan. 26. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and helical and volute springs.-Wheels, of the kind in which the rim and the hub are connected by telescopic spring elements with springs acting always in compression, are characterized by an element consisting of two volute springs 18, 18<1> arranged base to base upon a disk 10 pivoted between hnb flanges 7. A tube 12, pivoted to the rim at 16 and formed with inner and outer shoulders at its end, is fitted with a shouldered telescoping rod 14 passing through the disk and springs. Washers 11, 11<1> are placed under the springs and engage the shoulders. A nut 19 on the rod holds the apex of the inner spring. Compression of both springs is obtained on approach of two wheel members after the end of the rod 14 abuts against the hub. The arrangement may be reversed, as shown in the upper part of Fig. 1.
