Abstract

23,121. Tobey, W. L. Oct. 13. Machines for making.-A device for maintaining an even tension at the laying - head of a rope - making machine comprises a pair of multiple sheaves around which the rope is looped, one of the sheaves being provided with a capstan having a conical surface. The device is arranged between the laying-head and the receiving- reel. Figs. 1 and 2 show multiple sheaves 3, 4 mounted on power-driven shafts, and a conical capstan 7 rotating with the sheave 3. The rope passes from the laying-head over a pulley 1, around the sheaves, several times around the capstan, and thence over guide-pulleys 10, 12 to the powerdriven winding-drum 2.
