Abstract

23,065. Hounsfield, L. H. Oct. 13. Crank casings.-The division-plate 6 of an engine using crankcase compression comprises one or more disks each of which is made in two parts secured by a tongue - and - groove joint, along a diameter. When using more than one disk, the division lines therein break-joint. The centre bearing may be relieved of the load, and an end thrust may be put upon the crank-shaft to force a face of a crank web against the centre bearing.
