Abstract

23,059. Rodney, R. W. H. Oct. 13. Jackets and covers; tyre attachments to rims. -Relates to tyre covers of the kind described in Specification 18,795/12 in which the sides are formed in two separable layers, one or both being divided into flaps. Each layer is now formed with beaded edges which are engaged respectively by fixed and detachable rim members. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the beads g, h are clamped between a fixed ring k and side flanges n detachably secured by setscrews p. The screws may be locked by turning the hinged heads s, against the action of springs u, so as to abut against the sides of the felloe a. In a modification, the side flanges are secured by transverse set-screws. Figs. 4 and 6 show the adaptation of a wheel fitted with an ordinary clincher rim, the side flanges being secured by set-screws 11, Fig. 4, or by spring catches 21, Fig. 6. The air-tube may rest upon a rubber or like cushion fitted in the rim.
