Abstract

Sleepers, metal; sleepers and parts, arrangements of ; cattle guards.-Relates to metal sleepers with intervening corrugated metal plates forming inverted arches, and consists in forming the sleepers 3 with a web and with parallel flanges on one or both sides, the plates 10 being seated at their edges between the flanges. The plates may be secured by bolts 14, or the top flange may be corrugated. The top flange has rail seats 6, Fig. 4. Two sleepers, Fig. 8, may be placed close together with webs 15 facing, the plates 10 being secured between alternate sleepers only. These arrangements may be used as cattle guards.
