Abstract

Crossings without movable parts. -Composite crossings are formed with heavy grooved rails 2 joined to plain rails 1 by cranked fishplates 3. The cross rails have a projection 10 fitting between the main rail flanges, and are connected by angle braces 11. The cross rails may rest on bearers 14, which are either attached to sleepers 16 or rest directly on the ground, or the sleepers may be used without the bearers.
