Hinges readily separable about hinge pin.- For coupling side-cars and the like to motorcycles &c., a stud adapted to enter a socket is formed with a recess, groove, or hole to receive the correspondingly-shaped arm of a lever which alone holds the parts together. As shown in Fig. 1, a socket 3, perferably attached by a cranked arm 4 to the side-car chassis, receives a parallel or tapered stud 1 provided with a circumferential groove 7 for engagement by the U-shaped slot 12 in the arm of a lever 8. The walls of the gioove may converge and the edges of the slot be made taper to correspond. For locking the lever in its operative position, a spring-pressed pin 14 may be slidably mounted in guides 15 to engage a hole or depression 16 in the lever, the pin being provided with an arm 18 to bear against an inclined or helical surface 19. When the parts are engaged, the face 21 of the socket abuts against the half-clip portion 2 carrying the stud. The groove 7 or the like may be some distance from the outer end of the stud, the socket being apertured for the lever arm to pass through. The groove may be replaced by a tapered hole to receive a tapered pin on the lever, and the spring-pressed pin 14 may be dispensed with and the lever held in its operative position by a coil spring at the fulcrum. An extension 13 on the lever serves as a hand-grip.
