Abstract

20,446. Walker, N. D. Sept. 10. Bobbins.-Protector rings for bobbins used in spinning are housed in the barrel and are provided with upstanding projections which extend towards the flange and form driving and securing lugs. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the ring A is formed from tubing and is pressed into the bobbin B, the projections S being bent outwards to form the securing - lugs and the projections L, turned at right-angles to the ring, forming the driving-lugs. The driving- lugs are formed with inclines L<X>. In a modification, the driving-lugs engage recesses in the flange and also form the securing-means. In another form, these driving and securing lugs are formed by nipped-up portions of a piece of tubing, which may be cut at one point. In a further modification, Figs. 8 and 11, the protector is formed from a piece of sheet metal A<2> bent along the line A<3> and blocked to form a ring, the bends forming the driving and securing lugs L<4>, which are disposed in recesses F<1>, F<2> in the bobbin; in a modification, inclines are formed on the lugs L'.
