Bobbins.-A metal bobbin is formed of a tubular body 1, Fig. 1, and flange members 2 tightly fitted into the body member by means of a projection 4, the inner flange members 3 being spun over at 5 to engage the peripheries 6 of corrugated discs 7 which form the outer members of the flanges 2. The discs 7 are provided with inturned tubular projections .9, which form the bearings for the bobbin and fit into the ends 10 of an inner tubular distance-member 11. Instead of providing bearings 9 on the discs 7. the inner members 3 may be formed at the inner end d the projection 4 with disc portions provided with the central tubular bearing members 9 passing outwards through the end discs 7 and spun over to retain the discs 7 in position. In a further modification, Fig. 4, a projecting rib 16 on each inner' member 3 is adapted to engage in an annular groove 17 formed in the body 1, the central portion 18 of the member 3 being formed to extend over the end of the body 1 and to engage the bearing 9. Each flange 2, Fig. 5, may be secured on the body 1 by projections 19 on an inturned tubular portion 20 of the member 3 engaging in bayonet slots 21 in the outer edge of the body 1. In a further modification, Fig. R, the tubular extension 4 of the member 3 is again bent outwardly at 22 to form the end plate 23 which carries the bearing 9 and the member 7.
