Straps and bands. - Garment-suspenders are made up of a buckle comprising a wire part 6, Fig. 5, which is inset below and hinged by its inturned ends 5 to ears 4 on a plate 1 having a gripping-lever 2. The end of the webbing has a metal cap 10, Figs. 3 and 4, with a depression 11 at its middle. In assembling the parts, the capped end of the webbing is pushed over the bar 7 of the wire part, and the other end is carried round and pushed over the same bar in the opposite direction. Both thicknesses are thus held by the plate 1 when it is depressed to bring the gripping-lever into operation, the consequent crowding of the capped end into the narrow end of the webbing slot preventing it from being pulled out.
