Abstract
18,161. Coup, J., and Allbaugh, E. Aug. 9. Alloys.-A non-corrodible alloy contains 69À13 per cent of copper, 14À81 per cent of nickel, 8À64 per cent of zinc, À58 per cent of lead, À06 per cent of iron, 3À08 per cent of phosphortin, and 3À70 per cent of aluminium. The phosphor-tin preferably contains 6 per cent of phosphorus when the alloy is to be used for making articles, such as knives, which are stamped or cut out, but when the alloy is to be rolled, the proportion of tin is greatly reduced, and in some cases the tin may be omitted, the proportion of phosphorus in that case being from 0À053 to 0À76 per cent. The alloy may also be employed for making harness trimming, automobile trimmings, soda fountains, as a metal packing, and for piano strings and bells.
