Abstract

15,914. March, W., Mann, A., and Robertson, W. D. July 10. Piston packing.-The rings are arranged in pairs, each pair being in a separate groove in the piston. The rings of a pair are of uniform thickness radially, but have their contacting edges inclined, as shown in Fig. 2, so that the rings vary in depth axially, the depth being greatest at the point opposite the slits e, f. This construction prevents relative rotation of the rings, while permitting rotation of the pair in the piston groove.
