15,211. Frood, H. July 2. Pulleys. - A grooved pulley is provided with a textile covering B at the bottom of the g r o o v e. The pulley flanges C, C<1> are removable, and may also be covered. The ring B may be an endless piece, or a wound strip, or may be built up of sectors with or without small gaps between them. The outer surface of the ring may be slightly grooved. Instead, of being placed directly against the bottom of the groove, a wooden ring F may be interposed. The textile material may be composed of a solid woven fabric, such as cotton, impregnated with a cementitious, enamelling, or like composition. It may consist of woven asbestos fibre, or may have wires incorporated with it. It may be stored, and may be compressed to such a degree that the pressure of the rope produces no further compression.
