Abstract
14,581. Allday, P. W. June 24. Metal - heating furnaces. - In liquid-fuel furnaces of the type described in Specification 14,221/06, in which an annular air - heating chamber is arranged on the chimney, the fuel is heated either by passing air from this chamber through a jacket on the supply tank, or the supply tank may be arranged around the air-heating chamber or on the chimney, preferably above the air chamber. In the furnace shown, air enters the annular heating - jacket d at c, part being taken to the burners b by the pipe c<1> and part being led through the double walls and bottom of the oil tank f on its way to the burners on one side of the furnace. A pipe g leads the air to the space above the oil, keeping the oil under pressure. The bottom only of the oil tank may be made double. A branch pipe c<3> with a cock k may be provided by which a part of the air which would otherwise pass through the tank is led direct to the burners, allowing the temperature in the tank to be regulated.
