Keys.-Change of character on keys for typewriters, composing-machines, &c. is effected by providing each key button with an adjustable cover-plate bearing a character different from that on the button and movable into two positions to expose either the character on the button or the character on the plate. In the construction shown, the cover-plate 3 is hinged on the button 2, and is normally turned down into vertical position, as shown. A clip or other fastening may be provided to secure the cover-plate down upon the top of the button.
