Abstract

14,095. Kugellagerwerke J. Schmid- Roost, Akt.-Ges. June 19, 1912, [Convention date]. Dust, water, &c., excluding.-Mud and water are excluded from the shaft and axle bearings of tramway vehicles &c. by interengaging fixed and rotating sleeves surrounded by a fixed cylindrical sleeve 11. A sleeve 4 on the rotating shaft 1 has a channel 9 which collects any mud &c. that passes inside a conical part 7. A slot 13, between a radial rib 12 on the fixed sleeve 5 and a rib 10 on the sleeve 4, narrows towards the shaft, so that mud &c. that tends to enter the slot is led on to the rib 10 and thrown off ceutrifugally. Any mud &c. that passes through the slot is returned to the rib 10 by a conical surface 12, or is thrown off by a rib 16 and discharged through an opening 6 in the sleeve 5.
