Abstract
24,757. Demolder, F. Oct. 25. Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.-A lubricating-device for railway axle-boxes, applicable also for shaft bearings and vehicle wheels, comprises a disk 0 which rotates with the axle E and dips into oil in the lower part of the axle-box G. One face of the disk has a number of radial ribs n terminating in points n<1>, which are separated from the main portion of the disk by a groove n<3>. When the speed of rotation is low, and the action of gravity is not neutralized by centrifugal force, oil drips from the points n<1> into a groove P in the brass Q, and passes through openings p to lubricating- grooves p<1>. When applied to a vehicle wheel, the disk is attached to the rotating hub, and the groove P is formed in the axle.
