Abstract

Combined bolster and footstep bearings; ball bearings. - A bearing for unsupported flyer spindles of spinning and twisting machines is rendered self-centring at all speeds by providing the lower end of the inner sleeve d with a self-alining support in the bolster tube a. The inner sleeve is spherical at f as is usual, and the lover concave end h, rests on a ball g<1>, supported on a convex surface k in the cap l of the tube a. The spindle b has a spherical surface e running in an enlargement in the bore of the sleeve d, and the lower end rests on a ball i. Instead of using a ball g, the lower end of the sleeve d may be made spherical, and to rest on a spherical surface in the cap l, the centre of curvature of the cap surface being in the plane of the driving-cord; the rounded end of the sleeve has a smaller radius of curvature so that the sleeve can rock on the spherical surface.
