Channels in pistons.- In a piston composed of packing-rings d of cupleather type clamped between plates or disks a, b, lubricating spaces f round the peripheries of the packing - rings communicate with recesses g containing solid lubricant. The ends of the recesses may be covered by a shoulder, as shown at the top of the Figure, or by studs, or by a ring m. A lubricating groove h communicating with recesses k may be formed in the middle ring b.
