Armour-plating.-A compound armour-plate comprises a thin outer or covering plate A having a hardened face, or made entirely of hard steel, so as to remove the cap of a projectile, and a thicker inner plate B having a hardened face. The two plates are joined together in contact with one another without the use of bolts, screws, &c. by means of interlocking projections and recesses, or other devices. Spaces b between the plates are filled with soft metal fusible at a low temperature.
