Abstract
11,828. Torley, C., and Matter, O. May 21. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Nitrous oxide is prepared by introducing ammonium nitrate as a solution or as a solid body continuously into a reaction vessel containing a filling-material heated to a temperature at or above the decomposition temperature of the nitrate. The filling-material may be sand, shot, molten metal, salts, for instance a mixture of sodium and potassium nitrates, and the reaction mass is maintained in motion by a stirring-apparatus.
