Abstract

9095. Litteljohn, A. R. April 17. Diaphragm horns.-A sounding. apparatus for a self-propelled vehicle consists of a gong 16 secured on springs 18 within a trumpet-shaped body 15, the gong being sounded by flexible or rigid strikers 17 revolved by a flexible shaft 20 from a pulley 2 driven from the engine flywheel 1 when desired. The pulley 2 is mounted on a spring support which is depressed by pulling a wire 3 connected with a handle on the steering-wheel. In a modification, a clutch on the engine shaft may operate a pulley connected to the revolving strikers 17. The Provisional Specification states that the gong may be replaced by chimes, bells, xylophone plates, wires, knobs, or bars, or the strikers may pass across the orifice of a whistle.
