Abstract

8385. Brown, E. W. June 20, 1912. Cultivators and hoes. - A point for a horse hoe, grubber, or the like is formed with a flat or slightly bent upper portion k, Figs. 1 and 2, which fits against the upper front surface of the lower end of the standard, and a vertical wall k<1> which fits against one side of a solid standard, or of a standard formed from two bars j<1>, j<2>, separated by washers j<3> and riveted together. A blade l or other cultivating-tool is formed with a vertical portion l<1>, which fits between the bars forming the standard or in a slot formed in a solid standard, and the point and the blade or other tool are secured by a bolt which passes laterally through apertures therein and the standard. A nib or projection k<6>, Fig. 10, on the point &c. may be provided to fit against part of the side of the standard. Two blades, one on each side of a point may be provided, or the point may be dispensed with, in which case the portion l<1> is bent over at the top to fit against the upper surface of the foot of the standard. When a point is used without a blade, a small plate is inserted between the two members of the standard at the foot thereof. The point may be cast with a solid front end.
