Abstract

7234. Slater, O. K. March 26. Calcium phosphate.-A mixture of slag and a phosphate or other material containing phosphorus is disintegrated and oxidized by treat. ment with a moist vapour such as steam and then treated with sulphurous fumes. The product may be used directly as a fertilizer, or after further treatment with ammonia or nitrous vapours, a fertilizer containing lime, phosphorus, and ammonium sulphate or nitrates being thus obtained. The sulphurous fumes may be supplied bv means of a steam injector or otherwise mixed with steam.
