Abstract

6396. Palmer, J. C. March 14. Luggage-carriers are attached to cycles, motor-cycles, or other velocipedes by means of two clips b, pivotally secured to diagonal stays k of the carrier by bolts c passing through the stays, each clip comprising two half - pieces hinged together at f and having perforated or slotted lugs h. The clips are clamped on the front tube and the horizontal top or equivalent tube of the velocipede respectively by means of the bolts, which pass through the lugs of the clips, and have mounted thereon distance ferrules g which, on screwing up the nuts on the bolts, press the clips on to the tubes. The clips, being pivoted on the bolts, allow the carrier to be attached to any shape or type of velocipede frame. The clips may be cast or forged or may be of stamped and bent metal, filling-pieces j being in this case placed in the hollow lugs of the half-pieces. The diagonal stays have sockets l at their ends fitting on the carrier frame tubes.
