5299. Smith, A. T. March 3. Spring wheels with sectional outer guided members; spokes, securing and adjusting.-The wheel described in Specification 4328/13 of the type consisting of radially-guided tyre-carrying arms bearing on a cushion at the hub-and passing through a rim supported by spokes, is characterized by an adjustable system of tension spokes. At one side, the rim 3 has a series of wire spokes carried by a permanently-fixed ring 11 at the hub. The other series has pin joints 13 so that the spokes can be turned out to afford access to the cushion 2, and their inner headed ends are seated on the bevelled inner surface of a gapped flange 15 on a sleeve 27. Axial adjustment of the sleeve is obtained by rotating with a spanner an internal screwed sleeve 28 which is prevented from axial movement by a stud 30. A key 32 locks the sleeve. The ring 23 carrying the cushion is secured by bolts 24 and is formed with projections engaging axial ribs 26 on a third sleeve 17. The inner end of the sleeve 27 is in segments to clear the ribs 26.
