3530. Chambers, M. F. Feb. 11. Boxes; glands and caps.-A stuffing-box for the tube B of a yeast-funnel which passes adjustably through the base A of a fermenting vat, applicable also for other purposes, consists of a casing C fixed to the base A and having a bevelled outer face c, a cover C<1> secured by screws G' to the casing and having a reversely bevelled face c', and a bevelled india-rubber packing-ring D. A clearance space F is left between the tube B and the casing C. The stuffing-box may be reversely secured to a standpipe attached to the base A and projecting into the vat.
