Splashing - apparatus; cleaning - devices. - In means for distributing liquids such as sewage over. filters comprising adjustable sprayers situated over apertures in the distributing - pipes, the sprayers are hollow and communicate with a conduit through which water can be supplied to wash out the distributing-pipes. As shown, the sprayers 5 situated over apertures 3 in distributing-pipes 2 are formed as nozzles connected by nipples 6 to vertical branches 4 of a water-supply conduit 9. The wash-water is led away from the pipes 2 through valved pipes 8. Vitiated air is drawn off through funnels 12 and a pipe 11 connected to a fan or other suction device or to a conduit 13 in which a natural or artificial draught is produced. Pipes 14 leading to the conduit 13 may be provided in the filter.
