Abstract

1475. Appleton, G. S., and Hall, J. P. H Jan. 18. Chair keys. -A cross - head bolt c enters cross-slots b<1>, a' in the key-jaw and key, each slot having a recess behind it. The slot b<1> is set at an angle to the jaw. The bolt is secured by a cotter d engaging a washer e received in a bevelled recess b<4>. The chair jaw and key are tapered vertically and horizontally, and the rail face of the key is preferably ribbed. The head of the bolt may have a V-shaped edge c<2> engaging a similar groove in the recess a' which is preferably open at the bottom for casting.
