Abstract

512. Schoenfeld, M., and Wetzstein, B. Jan. 7. Embroidery machines. -The work-frame of an embroidery - machine is constructed in the form of a compound slide and comprises one or more horizontally disposed and guided members 15 upon which several fabric-carrying frames 10, 12, 13 are mounted a n d guided f o r relative vertical movement. The frames 10, 12, 13 are supported and caused to move together by means of pin- and-slot engagement with arms 2 on wheels 36 connected together by a band 3, and are balanced by a counterweight 6. The pin 17 of the usual cross-slots compounding device is mounted on the frame 10 and by means of a rack 21 and pinion 22 converts its horizontal movement into rotation of a shaft 23, which, through strap connexions 24, 25, causes a corresponding horizontal movement of the horizontal members 15. Fabric rollers 9 are mounted upon brackets 33 secured upon the frame 10, 12, and supporting-brackets 35 are provided on the frame 13. In a second construction, in place of the parts 17 ... 25, one of the two movements of the jacquard is transmitted directly to the horizontal members and the other is transmitted to a verticallydepending arm on one of the wheels 36, and so to the vertically - moving frames. Several methods of strengthening the frames to resist the pull of the fabrics under tension are shown. Removable struts may be inserted between the brackets 33, or the brackets 33 may be extended rearwards and be united by ties behind the main rods of the frames and the bars supporting the fabric rollers may be formed with removable middle sections so that either two or four fabric rollers may be used.
