Barges; materials, special. - A reinforcedconcrete barge, lighter, or the like of comparatively small size is of the swim-headed type and comprises a flat bottom and inclined sides A thickened at the junctions B, deck slabs K, M, water-tight bulkheads D, vertical piers E, and horizontal beams F, G. The reinforcement is mainly transverse and near both surfaces. The parts of the deck between the bulkheads D and the ends of the vessel are formed with small hatchways L. A wood fender P is fixed all around the vessel. The bollards H are bolted to the beams G.
