Abstract
29,904. Williams, L. W., Williams, O. R., and Williams, D. D. Dec. 30. Arresting-grips or frictional apparatus on permanent way, for preventing movement of railway vehicles and the like on sidings &c., comprise check rails a pressed outwards into contact with the running rails b by spring telescopic rods, composed of two portions d, d<1>, jointed to the rails, and a middle portion d<2> screwed or otherwise fitted into the part d and telescoping in the part d<1>. An adjustable spring e is arranged between a nut on the part d<2> and a collar d<4> on the part d'. The check rails a may be connected to the rails b by hinged arms c, as shown in Fig. 2.
