Abstract

28,671. McDonald, A. J. Feb. 26. Sterilizing milk &c.-In apparatus for pasteurizing milk &c. in which the milk flows through a regenerator 4 and a heater 3 in which are stirrers 24 upon a shaft 7 driven by a turbine &c. 6, a centrifugal governor 9 controls the milk supply and, it may be, the steam supply. The exhaust steam passes to the jacket of the heater 3. The governor 9 moves a rack of ring-teeth 12 to rotate through a quadrant 12<a>, a shaft 14 linked to a valve 13 upon a pipe 32, through which the milk passes from the external chamber of the regenerator to the heater. When the speed falls, the milk supply decreases and the steam supply increases.
