Abstract

Actuating; plug lift vulves.-A valve particularly adapted for use with pipes of large diameter, and comprising a hollow valve member of substantially double-coned form arranged axially in the pipe, has one end of the valve member pivoted to a lever through which it is actuated. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the valve member is rotatably mounted on a rod x pivoted to a lever h actuated by a screw n and to a link p pivoted to the casing at o. Coverplates r are provided in the casing to facilitate the insertion of tools to engage holes s in the valve member for grinding it in. Ribs w are formed on the valve member to assist the grinding. The means to facilitate grinding may be omitted. Modifications are described in which a tail-piece guide or a spider guide are substituted for the link p.
