Mountings.-Relates to couplings or universal joints of the type in which a disk is mounted, by means of projections at right-angles to one another, between flanges on the shafts, and in which one shaft is permitted to move angularly in any direction about a point in its length, such point being in line with the axis of the other shaft. According to the invention the faces of the disk and flanges form parts of cylinders, the axes of which pass through the said point. Fig. 1 shows the application to a gun-elevating gear in which the driven shaft c is required to oscillate about a point d in line with the driving-shaft a. The shaft c carries a bevel pinion rotating a nut which actuates the elevating-screw. A central plate g has projections or grooves h, i, the surfaces of which are in planes at right-angles and are formed cylindrical with the point d as centre. These projections or grooves engage corresponding parts j, k on flanges e, f formed on the shaft ends.
