Abstract

Double and multiple fabrics; tubular fabrics; diagonally-wefted fabrics.-In flat or tubular fabrics wherein two or more layers of wefts are used, and warps 6, Figs. 1, 4, and 5, repeatedly pass to-and-fro from surface to surface of the fabric and interlace with the wefts, every warp throughout the entire fabric during its to-andfro passages interlocks with two or more adjacent wefts 7<a>, 7<b>, 7<c>, Fig. 1, of one layer, or, as shown at 7<d>, Fig. 4, is so interlocked with the wefts of several layers. The wefts may be arranged diagonally or on the bias, or the fabric may be cut on the bias. The fabric may be mercerized by alkali or acid treatment and by treatment with glycerine, oil, &c., and may receive rubber treatment as described in Specification 6791/12, [Class 140, Waterproof &c. fabrics].
