Motor power plant.-Where the propelling unit of an aeroplane (propeller, flapping wings, &c.) is driven by two or more motors a speedreducing gear is introduced between the motors and the propelling-unit so that the latter may be driven at a slower speed when one or more motors break down. The change-speed gear may be arranged partly on the common motordriven shaft 6 and partly on the propeller shaft 9. The reducing-gear 12, 13 is thrown in by a lever 14 and rod 15. The exhaust valves of any motor are opened when it stops working, and the cocks of the two motors may be interconnected.
