Switches.- A switch employed for sending current in one or other direction to an electric motor consists, as shown in Fig. 2, of a pivoted operating-arm 21 bearing against adjustment screws 19, 29 on the ends 18, 28 of two levers 15, 25 carrying contacts 14, 27, 24, 17, which are normally pressed against fixed contacts 3, 8, 5, 6, by springs 12, 16. The arm 21 is moved one way or the other to open one or other set of contacts according to the direction in which current is to be sent. Sparking, preventing.-The supply and motor leads are connected to the switch contacts as described in Specification 28,711/11 so as to constitute a Wheatstone bridge, the motor leads forming the neutral arm. By this arrangement sparkless switching is ensured.
