Abstract

205. Ansell, W. R. Jan. 4. Controllers with stepped resistance having adjusting resistance in series therewith.-Starting-switches for the motors of portable apparatus for use on circuits of various voltages are provided, in addition to the usual step-by-step resistance a, Fig. 1, with an auxiliary resistance j divided into steps controlled by another switch arm, plug n, or the like, which enables the apparatus to be adjusted to suit a given voltage. In one form, the two sets of resistance contacts are mounted upon an insulating - slab, the auxiliary - resistance contacts being grouped beneath a series of. holes in a metal plate, the' holes being numbered with various voltages. The slab is also provided with sockets o for the supply leads, and terminals p for the motor leads.
