Abstract

23,425. Wehmeyer, S. A. Oct. 14. Inking-apparatus.-In plate printing-devices of the kind having two or more wiping-cloths 3, 4, one or more of which are moistened, passing over adjustable pads, the first cloth 4 is a dry cloth, and the second cloth 3 is moistened with a solution of silicate of potassium or sodium. The supporting-pads 8 are preferably pneumatic, and have a gauge 12 and valves at the side of the apparatus, for regulating the pressure while working. The position of the pads can also be adjusted by turning the screws 15, connected by chains 18 and chain-wheels, to the nuts 19 arranged at the side of the apparatus for ready access. The cloths are unwound from rollers 6 and guided over the pads and on to rollers 7<1>, which are operated by ratchetwheels and pawls 33, and friction clutches 32, so as to shift the cloths, in the intervals between the wiping operations, in a direction contrary to the movement of the printing-surface.
