Telephones.-The diaphragm of a telephone receiver is supported by the inner edge of the face A<1> of the casing A and bears at its periphery against the under surface E<1> of the cap E, being held in such a position by the attraction of the magnet C that it only makes linecontact with the supporting-surfaces. Various means are described for ensuring a sufficient space between the faces A<1>, E' of the casing and the cap. Thus, a shoulder F may be formed on the cap as in Fig. 2, or an annular recess may be formed in the casing A, or a separate spacing-ring may be provided; or a screw may be passed through the cap and the casing to fix them in the proper relative position.
