Abstract
22,341. Palmer, G. E. Oct. 11, 1911, [Convention date]. Seal fastenings. - A seal fastening comprises an outer transparent casing 3, a grooved member 7, and a wire 1, the ends of which are adapted to engage with the member 7 in the manner shown, when it is in the outer casing. The grooves in the piece 7, Fig. 6, consist of two shallow longitudinal grooves 8, two deep longitudinal ones 9, and two deep transverse connecting-grooves 10, In use, the grooves are covered by a paper or like seal, the ends of the wire are pressed through the paper at the bottom of the shallow grooves 8 when the parts are in the dotted line position, Fig. 2, and the piece 7, together with the wire is drawn upwards into the casing, as shown in full lines. The wire can then be pulled out through the apertures 4 only after the member 7 has been rotated within the casing until the ends of the wire are in alinement with the deep grooves 9. In this operation, the paper covering the grooves is ruptured.
