Abstract

20,620. Noelle, M. Sept. 10. Skips.-In furnace and like hoists, skips with conical bottoms to which are attached suspending rods are carried by hooks pivotally depending from the rear axles of carriers and are automitically lowered to discharge the contents at the upper end of the run. The carriers have front and rear wheels 13, 8 running on the rails 21, and wheels 14 on the front axles running on auxiliary rails 22 at the discharging point where the rails 21 terminate. At this point a circular toothed surface 16 formed on the carrier frame engages a rack 23 and rotates the carrier so that the skip is gradually lowered on to the furnace mouth.
