Abstract

Jackets and covers; tyre attachments to rims. -The outer cover of a pneumatic tyre is built of two layers q, r, the edges of which are formed with flaps q<1> ..., r<1> ..., breaking joint as shown, to facilitate local inspection and repair of the inner tube y. Each layer is formed with a half-bead u, z at each edge, the inner parts u being extended to engage over transverse bolts g, by which the outer flanges 2 are secured to rings e at the sides of the felloe. The flanges 2 may be continuous or in sections, and, in the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, are secured by pivoted catches mon shackles h threaded on the bolts g. The air-tube is seated upon a rubber &c. cushion d fitted in the rim. Figs. 4 and 5 show a modification in which the flange 2 is secured by means of a notched split ring 5 engaging slotted studs 4 projecting from the side ring e.
