Sash lifts; window stops.-A combined operating-handle and stop for sliding-sash windows comprises a metal or other strip a having at its upper end a lug b with an enlarged head. and at its lower end a rotatable lug d, these lugs engaging slotted plates m, n on the stile k of the upper sash. The strip a is formed with a handle f at its lower end, which engages the meeting rail g of the lower sash or with lugs on, or slots in, this rail, to prevent unauthorized opening of the sashes. To operate the upper sash, the rotatable lug d is released from the slotted plate n by turning a handle e, thus allowing the handle f to clear the lower sash. To remove the device from the sash, it is turned into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1; the lug b can then be withdrawn from the slotted plate m. The lugs may be carried by the sash and the slots formed in the strip a, and a series of slotted plates or lugs may be provided on the upper sash to enable the device to be attached at different heights.
