Percussive hand tools.-In a portable percussive tool operated by an electric motor, a safety device for rendering the tool inoperative except when pressed to its work comprises a button switch in the handle of the tool and a second switch beneath the handle, the motor being started, after closing the button switch, by pressure upon the handle, which is movablyconnected to the body of the tool by means of springs. The button switch comprises a lever or spring p and a contact w together with a weak spring q which maintains contact in spite of the vibration of the apparatus. The second switch comprises highly flexible springs v on the body r of the tool and the handle o, which are connected together by springs s.
