Dental instruments.-A guard for the spindle of a dental tool comprises a sleeve 1 freely mounted on the spindle S, as by being slipped on, by the engagement of one or more internal ribs or projections 6 with corresponding grooves 7 in the sleeve, Fig. 3, or, as in Fig. 4, by making the spindle in two parts screwed together of such a length that a recess 10 is left into which fits a thickened part 11 of the sleeve. An oil-hole 4 is provided, and it is preferred to have frictional engagement of the sleeve with the interior of the nose of the hand-piece, the end of the sleeve being bevelled to admit readily of this.
