Tread bands and surfaces. - A tread band comprises metal or other hard members A secured together by C-shaped clips L, the ends of which enter chambers B in the members, and bear on rubber or other spring cushions M therein. The adjacent ends E of the members normally diverge from the parts that come into contact with the road, which are close together, and the clips are put in position by bringing the ends together as shown in Fig. 3.
