191,213. Mustee, L. F., and Miller, J. H. Oct. 31, 1921. Folding napkins &c. in more than one direction.-A machine for folding napkins, towels, &c. has a table slotted at 8 through which the article is drawn and folded by a xeciprocating suctiondevice 64. The article is fed on endless conveyers 10 to a reciprocating suction-device 50 which seizes the edge of the article and places it so that the device 64 engages it along its centre. When the device 64 has placed the article between plates 65. 66, a reciprocating suction-device 92 at right-angles to the device 64 withdraws the folded article through a slot 95 in the plate 65 and between plates 94, thereby folding it again. The article then falls on to a plate which is turned to place the articles on a tray. Means are described for reciprocating the suction-devices and for controlling their operation.
